Software and Web localization engineering

Translation and localization projects require processing the source and target components subject to be adapted to another language. Such processing is known as Localization Engineering and, basically, it's perform at 3 stages within the overall localization process:

• Analysis or evaluation of the source material
• Pre-translation preparation
• Post-translation assembling

A localization engineer performs most of the language-independent tasks such as:

• Resource extraction
• Localized versions re-compilation
• Web sites adaptation
• Indexes, lists, glossaries, dropdown boxes, etc. re-sorting,
• Technical support in decision making
• Translation Memory (TM) maintenance, export, import, conversion, etc.
• Graphical User Interface (GUI) layout and re-size to fit expanded texts
• Localization bug fixing
• Screen shooting
